Pattern Round-up: Cool Summer Knits

Lightweight and lacy is the name of the game for the warmer months ahead...and apparently purple is THE color of the season! Today, we're sharing some of the newest designs using Bijou Basin Ranch yarns that are perfect for summertime stitching. We probably couldn't have planned this if we'd tried, but the latest round of new patterns just happen to have a certain royal hue in common. Purple lovers, this one's for you!
Fans of Downton Abbey will enjoy this delicate scarf designed by Kellie Nuss in our 50/50 yak and silk blend Shangri-La yarn. However, this project is more than meets the eye: Something Lady Mary Might Wear is described by the designer as an exploration in knitted jewelry - without the use of beads! It's also a skill-building project which introduces basic intarsia skills as part of the Next Level Knit-along at
If knitting with beads does happen to be your thing, then the Catalina Cape by Anniken Allis is right up your alley! This lacy crescent-shaped shawl incorporates beads to create an absolutely stunning design. It's knit with Seraphim, our angora blend yarn; pattern appears in the Beaded Lace Knitting book, which was published earlier this spring.

True lovers of lace won't want to miss Marly Bird's Blue Diamond Lace Scarf, which is also knit with our Seraphim yarn. This long rectangular scarf is knit in two halves, then grafted together in the center to create a beautifully symmetrical lace piece. The pattern appears in the Lace Yarn Studio book by Carol Sulcoski, which was published earlier this spring.

Shawl lovers will want to snag the latest issue of Knitscene Accessories, which has over 10 different knit worthy shawls, including the Wallis Shawl by Ágnes Kutas-Keresztes! This top-down lace shawl is the perfect choice for our 100% yak sport weight yarn, or mix things up a bit and knit a version in Lhasa Wilderness, our yak and bamboo blend! As an added bonus, we'll donate all net profits from your purchase of Lhasa Wilderness yarn towards Nepal earthquake relief efforts (just be sure to make your purchase from this page on our site).

June Events + Qiviut is Back

June is here, and we have two exciting fiber shows on our calendar this month: this coming weekend, we'll be heading to Estes Park, CO for the 25th annual Estes Park Wool Market on June 13 & 14, 2015! This is the largest fiber festival in the west (not to mention, our favorite hometown show), and we're looking forward to seeing you there. Look for us in the new expanded vendor barn!

The following weekend, we'll be heading to beautiful Eugene, OR for the Black Sheep Gathering June 19-21, 2015. We had such a great time last year that we couldn't wait to return, and this year's marketplace has been moved indoors to the Exhibit Hall - you can find us in Booths O 6 & 7 (click here to view the floorplan and exhibitor list so that you can plan your route accordingly)!

Besides your favorite luxury yarns and Allure Wash, here is a preview of what you can find in our booth at both of these events!

Yak Paks: These colorful packs are perfect for stripes and colorwork, and they are available only at upcoming fiber festivals in the BBR booth.

Needle Felted Yak Kits: Each kit includes everything you need to needle felt a tibetan yak, and they're great for beginners! These kits have been quite popular at recent events, and they are also available here in our online store.

Qiviut: It's baaaack! Our popular Qiviut yarns have been a little hard to come by recently, but we just received a shipment of our 100% Qiviut and Premium blend yarns (both of which are available in laceweight and fingering weight). Stop by the BBR booth at both of our upcoming events to inquire about our show specials, or click here to shop online!

Last but not least, we'd like to remind folks that we are still raising funds for Nepal Earthquake Relief - click here to see our eligible products. As we have mentioned before, BBR has a close working relationship with many yak ranchers in Nepal and Tibet, and we would like to do what we can to help folks in the region who have been affected by the recent earthquakes. We hope you'll help us spread the word and consider making a purchase to help the cause.

Thanks for joining us!
